THE FUKUOKA FOREST
FUKUOKA, JAPAN
The Fukuoka Forest is an international competition to develop an urban complex. The proposal presents an adaptation to the current situation of historical connotation, a world submerged by the greatest pandemic of the 21st century. This context makes one reflect on the new habitat of the modern world, an architecture that prioritizes nature as a strategy for mitigating future environmental problems, that makes architectural typologies more flexible, reduces travel distances and allows a balance between city, nature, public space, work, commerce and housing.
The greatest emphasis is reproduced in the historical context, being a fundamental part of the complex, its architecture is a memory of the social, political and religious events of Fukuoka prefecture. The shape and location of the main buildings take up the characteristics of the transcendental temples of the region.
