Soto House is an extension for a house located in Cuernavaca, Morelos. The intervention included the restructuring of the sanitary \nservices, terrace and a new fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n
The proposal started from the analysis of the immediate context itself, detecting essential factors among themselves, such as the \npredominant tectonics of the neighborhood, the social interaction between neighbors and the urban profile of the street where it is \nlocated. \nConsequently, it was detected that 85% of the homes were made autonomously by users, leaving materiality in its purest character. \nTherefore, an architecture was proposed that was born from the essence of the neighborhood, a house that could be mimicked in its \ncontext through materiality.<\/p>\n
In the foreground, the facade of a single material is erected, a concrete block in apparent termination. The block is placed in three \ndifferent ways: two lattice walls that function as a visual filter with the street, a remaining wall load-bearing in straight joints and \nfinally, a free space for the interaction of the terrace with the street and pre-existing vegetation.<\/p>\n
This case study gives us a guideline for the urban imaginary, how can architecture be iconic without being extroverted?<\/p>\n
